Jogja after the earthquake
It was on Monday morning. I went to office from my new flat for the first time (I should write down about my new flat).
I took a cab and chatted with the driver. I asked how his family was doing (it’s in Jogja after the earthquake on May 27, 2006, which killed more than 5000 people and displaced more than 1 million people). He told me that his family was fine, and so was his house…well..sort of. He told me that they did not live in a tent anymore and had restored their house. That driver told me that he couldn’t depend on others, not to government or to other parties. He pitied his neighbours who trusted the vice president’s promise. [JK, Indonesian vice president, once had promised the earthquake survivors some amount of money to support them restore their house. Alas, that money never had gone to survivors’ pocket (at least until now).] ssshhh no comment!!!
