Where and How to Find Adams

My broken-hearted best friend stayed over at my place last night. We talked about love, life, and surely our suck love life. She often wonders what kind of men that will be with me. She always says that he must be extremely patient and matured. Oh well, maybe that guy doesn’t exist in the world, and I have to find him in Mars or Saturn.

When we chatted, there’s a TV show. The topic was how if your wife makes more money than you do (it’s a sexist TV show, we found it out later). My friend was excited and wanted to see it. Then we talked about men and money. I asked him, how if her partner makes less than her does. She said that it would be fine. She makes 5 times higher than her latest boyfriend, and it was fine. Then she frowned and mumbled, “Maybe it was fine since we’re not married.”

I watched Kristy Alley on Oprah’s show. Ms. Alley says that she wants to have a partner who makes more money than she does; even if it is only 5 cents more. So she can worship him more.

I recalled a conversation with my male colleague during one lunch and brought it to my best friend. My colleague Lucky, reminded me to think more seriously about having someone, a partner in my life. He told me that he met his dearly wife at church (ok…not for me…I am not even a Christian so I cannot find a soul mate at church). My dearly colleague told me that I should find a Mr. Right, who has equal background with me. Then I threw him a simple question, “Where to find and who?”
My colleague starred at me and cried, “Hell yeah….other UN staff members maybe...or…I don’t know.”

My best friend listened to my story with my colleague and cried. She realized how complicated it would be for her. She’s 30 something year young woman (you don’t expect me saying 30 something year old woman, right?). She is well educated, a bit higher than most Indonesians. She works with the UN and is well paid.

I asked my broken hearted best friend, do these qualifications scare or attract men? She said that it attracts materialistic men, and scared inferior men. But, decent men who are not materialistic and really in love will find a way.
Well…my best friend said that I made her more pessimistic, she didn’t know where to find a man for her.

Indonesia is one of the most populous countries in the world with more than 200 million populations. Just let say half of them are men, so it’s 100 M. If a quarter of that 100M is single and on the ‘right proportion of age for both my friend and I’, then we will have around 25 M men. How many men out men these 25 M are decent, straight, well educated and make at least $2500/month? Ok…next topic please before my broken hearted best friend feels more depressed.
