A (Not) So Beautiful Dress
K and I went to a shopping mall. I saw a beautiful piece of dress, sure it’s black. “What do you think K? Don’t you think it’s lovely?” K nodded. “Shall I try?” He nodded again.
So we entered Nafnaf booth and tried to put it on. I entered a fitting room and looked at that dress carefully. I wasn’t sure about which one was the front side. “This must be the front one, look it has deeper plunge so it would be the back side.” K told me.
I put that dress on. I looked at the mirror and not sure about it. Something went wrong but I didn’t know what it was. I asked K opinion,” It’s not as nice as on mannequin. What do you think? It looks awkward.”
K frowned his eyebrows and agreed with me, “It’s not nice.”
“Are you sure it’s the front side? I guess this one is the back side.” I pointed the front side of the dress to K.
“It can’t be. It would be too sexy.” K replied me. He pointed out the back side of the dress, “This would show your cleavage too much if it is worn on front side.”
“Are you sure?” I asked him again. He nodded. “So maybe it’s not nice.”
“Maybe only nice on mannequins.” K said.
Then we walked away, but I was still not sure about that dress, “I think that must be the back side.”
“Can’t be lah.” K replied me.
“Let’s get back there and see it again. No I am not going to wear it again. Just curious.” I insisted him and grabbed his hand. We went back to that Nafnaf. We both stared at the mannequin, I pointed it out and burst my laughter out loud. “See, that’s the back side. No wonder it looked so awkward.”
Lesson learned: Follow your instinct and don’t let a geek tells you which one is the front and back side of a dress.
